Call No. 02-126-K “Implementation of AI Solutions” is aimed at micro, small and medium-sized industrial enterprises (SMEs) seeking to adopt digital technologies, with priority given to artificial intelligence (AI) solutions. The purpose of the call is to help companies make more effective use of their data and digitise business processes, thereby raising the level of SME digitalisation. The call is administered by the Innovation Agency (Inovacijų agentūra); the responsible institution is the Ministry of the Economy and Innovation of the Republic of Lithuania.
According to information published by the Innovation Agency, a wide range of AI use cases is eligible for funding: from machine learning or computer vision systems for quality control to smart robotics, automated production planning and digital twin technologies.
The total call budget is EUR 3,750,000, split by region into two activities:
A single project could receive between EUR 15,000 and EUR 70,000 in funding. The call description states: “The minimum amount of funding that may be allocated to a project is EUR 15,000 (fifteen thousand).” The maximum funding intensity is “up to 50 percent of all eligible project costs”, i.e. the applicant had to cover at least 50% of the costs from its own funds. The form of funding is a grant and projects are selected through a competitive procedure; the source of funds is the European Regional Development Fund.
Support is provided as de minimis aid under Commission Regulation (EU) 2023/2831. The applicant must submit a completed “single undertaking” declaration using the form published on the ministry's website; the aid granted is recorded in the Register of Granted State Aid and De Minimis Aid, and aid-related documents must be kept for 10 years from the date the last aid was granted.
Applications could be submitted by SMEs meeting all of the following requirements:
Under the project funding conditions description, the following cost categories are eligible:
As of 11 July 2026, the call is marked as suspended on the esinvesticijos.lt website — new applications are no longer accepted. Applications were accepted from 27 February 2026, 14:00, to 18 June 2026, 17:00, via the 2021–2027 EU investments Data Exchange Site (DMS, dms.investis.lt). The date of and reason for the suspension have not been made public.
The following implementation deadlines apply to funded projects: activities must start within 3 months of signing the project contract, the project duration may not exceed 12 months, and the call description sets a final limit: “Project activities must be completed no later than 1 September 2029.”
The key news for companies that missed the deadline is the planned follow-up call No. 02-132-K under the same activity, “Implementation of AI Solutions”. The published planned application window runs from 29 January 2027, 14:00, to 29 April 2027, 17:00. The planned budget is likewise EUR 3,750,000 (EUR 1,250,000 for the Capital region (Vilnius region) and EUR 2,500,000 for Central and Western Lithuania), with a maximum of EUR 70,000 per project. The funding intensity, minimum amount and exact applicant requirements will be published in the call description — the website currently states “information in preparation”, so the terms of the new call may differ from 02-126-K.
Companies planning to apply under call No. 02-132-K would do well to prepare in advance:
1. Check your SME status and the EVRK code of your principal activity — whether it falls under section B or C and whether at least 51% of revenue comes from industrial activities. 2. Assess your financial indicators: whether the company has been operating for at least two years and whether average annual revenue reaches the EUR 145,000 threshold (if the new call applies analogous requirements). 3. Calculate your remaining de minimis aid headroom at group level and prepare the “single undertaking” declaration. 4. Define a specific AI implementation need (e.g. computer-vision quality control, automated production planning) and collect supplier quotes to substantiate the costs. 5. Plan your own contribution — in call 02-126-K it amounted to at least 50% of the project value. 6. Secure access to DMS (dms.investis.lt) and monitor esinvesticijos.lt for the announcement publishing the 02-132-K description.
